Kind of a sad story, really. US citizen who got stuck in Japan visited relatives when the war broke out. Then forced by the Japanese to produce radio propaganda, alongside some POWs, or face execution. She even tried to purposefully bungle the propaganda, and got away with it a few times since her Japanese handlers didn't speak English. Then, even though her being coerced by the Japanese was all documented, the US felt public pressure to railroad her anyways, so they tried her in a kangaroo court and found her guilty.

She was convicted by witnesses who later recanted that she ad-libbed propaganda on one of her broadcasts. She got screwed by both sides.

She got off easy. Lord Haw Haw got hanged.
