Their uniforms during this time-period were pretty bad-ass (I don't know how much they've changed since then, I haven't looked into the modern Japanese Military uniform ever, I don't think). You could tell every soldier's uniform was influenced in someway by symbolism and culture from the Samurai Era, from the tapering of pants on certain soldiers along with the type of shoes that went with them, to the hats certain soldiers wore that straight up looked like a samurai's helmet but were made of cloth, to the soldiers who were in uniforms that looked exactly like japanese magistrate uniforms from that era. There was a lot of variance in their clothing among rank and purpose if you paid attention.

Thanks for sharing, that was a cool video. Idk why, but I love military uniforms from this era.

I always thought the Japanese had rather dull uniforms. Compared to the other combatants, they were peahens. Even minor Axis nations like Finland had better style. To each his own, I suppose.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying Japan had the best uniforms during WW2. I'm just saying I never really paid attention and found a few of the cultural motives in their then "modern" uniforms interesting.

Imo, WW2 honestly had a lot of great, interesting uniforms. I think modern uniforms are much more boring and dull.

They didn't have uniforms at the start of the war. Men went into battle wearing a belt and a cockade on their hats. It was a slur against the boring-ass Japanese uniforms.
