no sir it's not their unfathomably based culture based on their faith that leads them to be against the gays

After a generation of the Republicans being the pro war party against a vague terrorist enemy the Democrats took a "Muslims good war bad" position in response. Now that we've had our hate week Eurasia is Eastasia moment now the Democrats are the pro war party against a non-muslim enemy with the republicans taking the anti-war position.

The consequence of this is that the democrats now have to come to terms with their previous "ally" no longer have any reason to be aligned with them, seeing as by and large Muslim opinion is murderously opposed to the kind of social reform the Democrats wish to implement. So they need to manufacture a narrative for why this previous virtuous group is now vehemently opposed to their political positions even though they've been opposed basically the whole time. Of course there is probably some truth to the idea, I'm sure the republicans will be taking full advantage of the culture war to try to flip heavily Muslims districts more towards republican interests. And frankly the current Democratic party trend of putting gay stuff front and center is making it super easy for republicans to just point to that in their recruitment efforts.
