Hitler definitely had his flaws but I think the biggest part of his allure is that unlike many other leaders of the time and since, he genuinely had a good heart and wanted the betterment of the world. This led him to have some level of naivety in the way he dealt with things. I don't think the development of the wunderwaffe was really what killed the Germans though the biggest thing was sabotage from within the Wehrmacht along with American Lend-Lease driving the Soviets.

he genuinely had a good heart

He had 400,000 disabled Germans murdered in Aktion 4. He had Warsaw and Rotterdam terror bombed. He had 3 million soviet PoWs starved to death deliberately. He had 10,000 German soldiers shot to death throughout the war.

Compared to the other allies who had objectively evil aims, the Nazis for their faults had noble goals. And I'm far from some pure 100% bavarian phenotype Aryan to be defending them, I just see them as the only real attempted reversal of decay in recent history.

He had 400,000 disabled Germans murdered in Aktion 4.

Honestly this is merciful if anything. It's not like he was killing functional people, these are the ones that are totally dependent on others to survive. It's not a dignified existence.

He had Warsaw and Rotterdam terror bombed.

Even Nuremberg never tried to convict anyone of bombing valid military targets.

He had 3 million soviet PoWs starved to death deliberately.

Was the order of the German High Command, though it did take Hitler a year to repeal that order tbf

He had 10,000 German soldiers shot to death throughout the war.

Honestly given the amount of sabotage there ought to have been more. Stalin had the right idea with getting rid of dissent
