I used to have a bunch of stuff on Thatcher's reforms being a complete failure, but I can't find that anymore. If you are interested, maybe you could check if Henry Ford wrote anything on this topic? At that time there was considerable enmity between industrial and financial elites in the US, and Ford is probably the most vocal representative of the former.

Keep it short and simple. The documentary "inside job" is great for learning about how the system is rigged.

I always recommend Michael Hudson's work, and Thorstein Veblen of course.
