The 'Nazis' did a lot of the fighting for what is now ironically a jujube-controlled government (e.g. President Zelensky, former Prime Minister Groysman), being useful pawns. Appeasing them by throwing a few bones while keeping them out of power has meant that they've been on the sidelines for these past few years. Now they'll come in useful again, since they're predictably the Ukraine's best fighters. Some of the last good men in Europe, all dying, ironically, for the liberal causes they themselves despize, and at the hands of some of the other last good men on the Russian side.

They had no choice but to keep them around: who the hell else is going to fight for that place? The actual Ukrainian military is total garbage.

Ironically, it somewhat backfired because the continued presence of 'Nazis' is being used as a partial justification of his invasion.
