Australia used to be a sort of experimental zone for the British Empire. They used to send convicts there at first. It doesn't seem to have grown out of that role.

God people have weird fucking ideas about Australia. If anything marked the first 100 to 150 years of Austrian existence I'd say it's our remarkable lack of imperial interference and personal indifference to any social engineering or ideological obsessions. No bankrupt Jeffersonian drivel corrupting the mind, no Jacobin obsessions with rights and no silly wars of independence or revolutions to fetishize. Just a hearty, independent and largely isolated and therefore free young nation -- White as snow to boot! Heaven on earth.

Then why is it so dystopian now? It puts even other anglo countries to shame

Too highly urbanized of a population would be one explanation but just speaking from my own experience here I don't consider it that dystopian at all. I've definitely rarely encountered these dystopian trends that many others who aren't Australian seem to constantly talk about -- maybe I've just been lucky???

There's utterly infuriating aspects of our culture but relatively speaking having lived in Brazil for a time and travelled in much of Eastern Europe I'd say we're for all our faults quite a prosperous and free society. You've got to remember we're dealing with an extreme situation here and not a general trend.

Other Aussies may disagree but at least that's my personal opinion about this place.

Not gonna lie I got bitten by Red Backs twice as a kid and would regularly stumble upon Brown snakes which are absolute monsters.

Outside of that it's heaven just avoid the deadly, aggressive fauna. :)

How is Australia freer than eastern Europe? There you don't go to jail for posting crime stats on FB or not wanting drag queen story hour.

I'll put it this way there's not many central figures in our founding who wrote flowery, enlightenment fueled drivel about how the 'book of fate' determines that eventually the Aboriginals must become free and there's nothing in our official documents at the beginning at least -- hell now it's practically illegal to DISAGREE with the notion -- that people are created equal. I know that phrase was a declaration to a King and it doesn't mean what most people think it does but still.

Thanks for the well wishes SNS. So far my experience is that in my corner of Australia the rules are present but not enforced or practiced. This could all change though. There's also a lot of what you might call alarmist misinformation floating around including the story posted here the other day about the 'concentration camp' being built to detain the infected.

I think things will get much worse before they get better though. There is just too much of a conformist strain in this country and the government is pushing towards passport style systems for many activities, services etc.

So at the moment I'm pessimistic but not entirely hopeless. The concern is appreciated and returned to all the non-aussie dar contributors coping with their own version of this madness in whatever country they reside in.

Thanks for clearing this up. I'm of the opinion that those in power may start building camps at some point, but we need to be very clear on when that actually starts happening.

There's no use crying wolf every 5 minutes about how "they're building camps!!!!", especially without providing other details such as how to avoid getting put in those camps.

Anglin just posted a story about 5 Walmarts being shut down abruptly and shipping containers placed nearby. Seems a bit sus.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

This is the truth. Look deeper.

There is one in Indiana, too. I've seen it. It has covered fences surrounding it, but it used to be a Walmart. Now it is a FEMA-owned property. It's been sitting empty for years.

Also look into military drills (especially National Guard, or any non-US equivalent) which they were doing all at the beginning of the lockdowns.

[–]Ponderer 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I believe it; but by what time do you expect these to be used? And how can one avoid getting put in one?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't know when they might use it. There are three ways to avoid getting put into one: 1. Get the vaxx and the vaxx-pass. 2. Get a fake vaxx-pass (this is not for me). 3. Be prepared for Order 66.

[–]Ponderer 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

In Australia or elsewhere?

Definitely something to be concerned about. Do you think there will be anywhere to go should camps actually start running? Maybe Eastern Europe or central Asia?

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Stay in your home country, unless there is no support for freedom there. If there is some amount of support, stay and take part in what you can whilst also preventing any harm to come to you or your family. People ran away from this sort of thing when America was founded. It solved nothing.

Hiding and surviving in your homeland is one thing. Running away to another country to try and live a normal modern life is another thing. Face this, if you can. Other people are going to, and they are going to need help, even in the smallest form. A hermit in the woods can find his knowledge invaluable to any refugees, but only if he is willing to be of help.

Of course, do as you will.

That's great to know that enforcement is not happening but it still has to concern you that all these things are being put in place no?

Can't help but think about Solzhenitsyn quotes when I here about about your situation.

There's one I'm thinking of, something about "And how we burned in the camps later...", can't seem to remember the rest of it.

[–]sylla94 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? After all, you knew ahead of time that those bluecaps were out at night for no good purpose. And you could be sure ahead of time that you’d be cracking the skull of a cutthroat."

NP. It's a long slog -- had to read it in school -- but also there's some chapters of his work on the relationship between Russians and Jews called 200 Years Together which have been translated and are well worth reading.

[–]sylla94 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I read it after Petersons "I can't do it" moment. Very revealing on both counts

[–]Fitter_HappierWhite Nationalist 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I read a few chapters, very enlightening. e.g. Jews were given land to farm so they would integrate but they didn't like to get their hands dirty and would just rent it to goyim, they much preferred to live in cities where they could do things like sell alcohol and other merchant activities.

[–]literalotherkinNorm MacDonald Nationalism 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

That's my favourite part as well and a great counter to the typical Jewish apologia which usually amounts to 'Come on Goyim we just weren't allowed to be farmers we had to become bankers because you restricted us'. No Shlomo we desperately tried in many cases to make you normal members of society who profited from your own toil and not the exploitation of others. You said 'fuck that' and sold the ploughs provided you.
