The US has the willpower to intervene they just don't have the ability to win.

One way we'll see international relations change over this Afghan debacle is that countries that are external to globohomo, or semi-external to in the case of China, will be emboldened by the sheer display of American incompetence and weakness.

Obviously the CCP are going to be very happy right now. For if the American'ts can't defend Afghanistan, it looks exceedingly as though they are simply a blustering, sabre-rattling paper tiger making empty threats when they criticize Chinese expansionism in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Xinjiang.

If camel-herding cave dwellers can beat America in 2021 just like the Vietnamese peasants in the 1960s-70s... what do you think a massive army of millions can do?

That's a strange way to take it. The withdraw has been attempted for years and years, and they left it to a communist to finish the job so they can Nixon him. It's a very different situation from the south china sea.

If bombs start flying, expect North Korea to take its own pot shots, in any case. There's no safe scenario for China, and they know it.

If the US invaded Cuba today, the Russians couldn't and wouldn't do much about it. Its a matter of will. The US military is too averse to casualties and the US elite are too sensitive of their bank accounts.

i think if that was true we would do just that, and would have long ago

nothing else explains the existence of cuba all these years

all stems from the cuban missile crisis

Ambhibious invasions are difficult and costly and nothing is gained from invading Cuba other than a costly guirella war. Cuba has no rare resources or strategic value. Plus, its no danger to the greatest ally or to anything really. No point. Plus, a lot of people in the liberal establishment sympathize strongly with communism.

nah we could clear out cuba before breakfast

they tried the bay of pigs before with 500 men and no air support, ok fair enough that won't work, clearly need more but the US military has more. Why didn't JFK support it? He knew it'd get us nuked. Great man.
