Another thing to think about is when Self Driving Vehicles get here, unless they're completely autonomous, the government will be able to do the same thing with your ability to travel, or decide where you're allowed to travel.

If they suspect you of a crime, they could program you car to bring you straight to the nearest police station next time you try to use it too. And program all the doors locked and traffic lights green.

And it's only a matter of time until they outlaw humans driving, mandating that it be under computer control for safety, which I would actually support is in just society, but we don't live in one. We live in an Orwellian Panopticon.
