Why did Howard Hughes spend the end of his life cowering in his hotel room in fear of germs rather than spending his money and having fun?

Death is terrifying and all conquering, the world is chaotic, the universe immoral and uncaring. You can't control what happens to you and for control freaks that drives them to madness.

Death isn't terrifying at all. Maybe if it was some unique thing that happened to an unlucky few, but we're literally all going to die. Things go black, then you no longer are.

What if you had to spend most of your conscious hours serving the needs, goals, and desires of some "boss" in order to obtain food and shelter? THAT would be terrifying.

Because he had obsessive compulsive disorder, dickhead.

Profound.
