Is this a dank meme?

I do not want to gatekeep dank memes here, but these are my thoughts on the "dankness" of a meme:

A dank meme can generally be considered to be an inside joke with the internet. This means that a dank meme does not make sense to a person that is not familiar to internet culture.

Also, the "inside joke" factor of a meme can only apply to a specific website / forum / subsaidit, meaning that for people outside the meme will not be relevant.

Because memes are limited to single places, a culture around memes with further inside jokes can evolve.

To give a concrete example for this phenomenon: Over at r/dankmemes there has been the joke that the Duolingo mascot will come to life and punish you in real life instead of only being limited to the push-notifications on mobile, which is evident with the recent posts subjecting the mascot.

To come to the point on whether your meme is dank:

No, because it does not feature internet-specific jokes and can be understood by anyone due to this.

But if I am entirely honest, it is also very hard to create memes with an inside jokes when there is not already some prior activity or culture on the site.

Also, the whole idea of s/dankmemes is just a bit piggybacked off of r/dankmemes, which means that users that are not familiar with r/dankmemes will not know what to expect here.

Due to this I encourage everyone to be creative with any images and captions that they can find which are more or less relevant to the recent activity of the sub*, which will sooner or later lead to "dank" memes.

*This does not mean that you can't bring new ideas to the sub.

That's something alright. Dank? Certainly. Meme? To be determined.
