Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't one of the big arguments in favor of OF becoming a massive hub for porn that the creators would be able to avoid that exact sort of shady business that's so prevalent in the mainstream, professional porn industry? And yet, here we are. It's almost as if the multi-billion dollar industry centered around the monetization of people's bodies and desires attracts scum!

While there a few horrific outliers, "Most of the 128 police complaints were lodged by women against men who were former sex partners. They often said the content was produced consensually but was posted without their permission – or even their knowledge" So, it sounds like they made a sex tape, broke up, and it was posted. Not exactly the kind of thing professional porn industry does.

How many times does the "I made sexy stuff and it got leaked/used against me" thing have to happen before people finally stop doing that?

That would require people to be aware of the future consequences of their actions, and I haven't seen much of that in any circumstances, let alone sex tapes.
