That your doctor illegally prescribed it does not mean it is available legally to any adult who wants it. Legally you need to have a medical need for it.

Which is why the kids can get it. Since it's been said that being trans is a legitimate medical reason, and there are more than enough doctors willing to sign off on that.

Plenty of other doctors won't, but the consequence of a capitalistic medical system does mean that so long as there is at least one doctor out there willing to do it who can potentially profit from it in some way, then that will happen, and as it spreads other unscrupulous doctors will notice and take advantage of it as well.

So until the government or society comes about and makes regulations to counter this issue it will continue to happen. Medical industry itself is beholden more to profit interests than to what is best for the patients so change won't come from them. Will have to be implemented through legislative dictates. Thou shalt not prescribe testosterone to people who have otherwise healthy and normal hormonal levels for their sex. Not their preferred sex, their real sex.

Carve out only a small few exceptions for actually fucked up hormonal profiles or the weird intersex conditions.
