I have heard plenty of stories of underaged kids getting cought too. Generally it is not frowned upon and doesn't get the media attention. But there was a 60 min episode about some kid that got his house raided and they thought it was the dad, then busted the kid.

I think they said he had to register as a sex offender, but typically criminal records of minors are expunged at 18 so I don't know how that works.

Also, privacy laws prevent publishing details about the crimes of minors, and I'm sure that has a lot to do with it to.

I'm constantly surprised at the number of 17-25 year olds caught in these crimes. I honestly thought it was almost exclusively older men, but... NOPE.

One reason is that younger men often get lighter sentences or no time at all because they play the sympathy card that' they're a promising student and it will ruin their life.

Of course, when they are caught again 20 years later killing people then everyone is like "why were all these chances to stop them missed?"
