On 9/10/2001 Donald Rumsfeld announced the Pentagon had $2.3 TRILLION unaccounted for. The very next day the 9/11 attacks occurred. On that day the world changed and in the rush to fund the war on terror, the investigation into the missing $2.3 TRILLION dollars was forgotten.

Makes me wonder why the even bothered to announce it at all?

Was this a signal? A way to lock it in, "No turning back now."

Was this a message to skeptics, "You wanna fuck with us? We have at least $2.3 trillion to bring down on your heads if you even think about it."
