Because the thought controllers can dictate at-will what people will discuss and when.

Dialogue is no longer authentic online. If you used the internet before the 2000s you would see the night-and-day difference to how people spoke to each other and what topics would be discussed

Spoiler: Almost no mention of politics could be found online back then whereas now everywhere demands that you pick a side or else.

On top of this, bots roam everywhere now. Even when the conversation seems organic, it can either be great AI or it can be human takeover of their bot's conversations. Most bots are likely just independent though. I've caught dozens before. They make arguments that make literally no sense, then when you ask them a simple question like what's the number of days in a week minus the number of fingers on one hand, then stop responding or respond with complete gibberish. And there are for sure left wing AND right wing bots.
