It's all about productivity. If a person can produce the same amount in a 36 hour, 4-day week as they can in a 40 hour, 5 day week, then everyone wins. For some, a faster paced but quicker work environment is better than a drawn out, metered one. I've found that most employees loose too much steam to be productive after 10 hours. You get about 50% output. I get that way, too. Sometimes, the work has to get done and you have no choice, and then you start the next day dragging behind what you can normally produce. Workplace culture is a big part of productivity, too. If an employee feels valued and happier, they tend to be more productive.
