The Ukrainian nonagenarian did fight the Soviet Union, but as part of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS, “a Nazi military unit whose crimes against humanity during the Holocaust are well-documented,” according to the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Canadian human rights group promoting awareness about the Holocaust and fighting antisemitism.

The Waffen SS. Way to go, morons. Hey, in the modern day, proxy war has gotta proxy. Somebody has a Global Empire, and you're tasked with helping.

When do we get to start calling Canadians Nazis by default? I mean they elected these clowns, shouldn't they start to own it? Others have been smeared for less.

When your new programming tells you to hate Russians so much that you slip up on congratulating someone else who hated them even more.

When your new programming tells you to congratulate someone who fought against your side in a World War. When you've forgotten that Russia was the ally of the US and UK during WWII.

What's to apologize for? Calling patriotic truckers Nazis, then turning around and giving a standing ovation to a man who fought under a Nazi flag and in a Nazi SS uniform against the Allies while deporting and murdering Jews? If only you could see through the eyes of a shitlib, you'd understand that all's right with the world.

Yeah...

But Rota apologized Sunday after he said he “subsequently became aware of more information” about Hunka’s past.

[...]

Rota, the Commons speaker, said that he alone was responsible for inviting Hunka, who lives in the area he represents, implying that neither Zelenskyy nor Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau knew about it.

If we're being honest, saying sorry all the time is something Canadians excel at
