When it rains, it pours. Of course Reddit decides to have a collective meltdown and mass fist-waving at the clouds in the C Suites the same week.

And what do I think? I'm trying to imagine myself in movie scenes where the aging protagonist is trying to enjoy their golden years on some picturesque ranch when some kid in a suit drops in and says, "Sir, I know you retired and said you'd never come back to the Company as you flew off into the sunset, but we have an emergency, EvilCorp is trying to destroy the world, and this time they mean it, and we need you back for the fight," and all I can come up with is Lloyd Bridges in Airplane; "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue."

[sigh]

And I'd like to thank (and welcome) the wave of regulars I see here. Migrations suck, and it's not the first time for most of us. Or second.

Now, where are we? No, really, WTF? I've been processing this through the same steps I process my larger commissions;

• Pretend it isn't real

• Lie to client; "I got this"

• Recognize there are no practical solutions

• Tell client I have some ideas (not lying; don't tell client they're all bad ideas)

• Fill wastebasket with crumpled balls of unworkable concepts

• Restock liquor cabinet

• Work on wastebasket across the room 3-pointers

• [week later] A miracle occurs

• After letting my subconscious do the heavy lifting, an obvious direction hits me while I'm out driving trying not to think to hard about anything.

• Dig through wastebasket for the One Wad that held the seed of hope.

And here I am. Man with a Plan. A subversive plan.

Who are we all if not subversive refugees, building our networks of They Live sunglasses wearing awake individuals, battling bots and shills and authoritarian wannabe dictators and their assorted hangers on? It's a relief to know we have a nifty and growing beachhead here at Saidit, but what about Reddit?

I think TPTB at Reddit would like nothing more than to see us gone, safely ensconced where we can no longer interfere in their narrative management. I, for one, would rather not give that to them.

But how do we protest? What would Gandhi Do?

Speaking personally, and certainly up for discussion as this is what I see as I flatten out that crumpled ball of paper from the bottom of the wastebasket and contemplate the scribbles (haha Giant Meteor and Reddit HQ), I'd like to see r/WotB reopen, disallow posts (text posts only), a comment requirement (ala The Turtle) be that ALL comments must include "I hate Reddit," and we leave a pinned post pointing to this Sadit alternative.

I'm not ready to stop being subversive there, and rolling over various Malicious Compliance scenarios as we use our Reddit to build our Saidit. On Reddit we acted as an intellectual form of Narrative/Authority antibody. I consider it a service to those on the edge of waking up, and to those newly awakened who need to know they're not crazy and not alone.

In the early days of r/WotB I probably sent out thousands of targeted PM invites to users who seemed either awake, or awake curious. Now imaging if there were dozens of us doing this.
