Japan has Ivermectin.

They've used that for decades so...

I mean, Japan kinda does, but kinda doesn't. I've never seen it OTC here, and the minority that does use it seems to be mail-ordering from India. I tried looking around myself, but hospitals/clinics won't prescribe it for Covid, so I also ended up ordering a pack to test.

Note, I didn't actually need it. By the time my package arrived, I'd already caught and recovered from Covid (was basically a mundane 2.5 day cold; didn't take anything special other than vitamin D, zinc, and a buncha citrus). The mainstream hit job made me curious though:

  • Contradiction #1: dubiously slanted articles like this one from NPR for a naturally derived medicine that's been given to billions and is on the WHO's list of essential medicines

  • Contradiction #2: bunch of twitter anons seemingly parroting the same warning about IVM causing hepatitis vs. studies showing that it suppresses hepatitis viral replication (1, 2)

Long story short, I smelled bullshit. Tried 1x 12mg tablet per day for a couple months to verify for myself how safe/unsafe it was. Nothing of consequence happened. If anything, I actually feel better than before (anecdotal; this is not medical advice, yadda yadda). With that I felt comfortable enough giving some to my parents to hold onto, just in case.

I know exactly what you're saying. I ordered it as a prophylactic and got the Rona myself.

I held onto some pills afterwards but my family insists it'll kill me.

And that's when I knew to stop watching corporate news.

Ah, that sucks. Sounds like you had a rougher time than I did in trying to broach the topic(s).

My relatives in the family chat group were at least willing to hear me out, although nobody wanted to discuss any specific points they disagreed with me on. I was simply "wrong" and that was that. I can only hope that the ones who remained silent (in your family also) were curious enough to look into things more on their own.
