Why didn't they just get out of the ambulance? They had time to get out of the train's way even if their ambulance had no chance of surviving.

no way, I remember seeing the death clip before but didn't know the driver had been in the same situation before (obviously lived before); what a dumb fuck.

In the death clip, it looks like the driver panicked and stalled (vehicle is rocking back and forth) when facing head on with the train.
