Fun Fact: "Eleven" and "Twelve" actually mean "one after ten" and "two after ten", respectively.
And all numbers with the suffix "-teen" mean "x after ten".

Russian is clearer than English, where all numbers 11-19 end in the same suffix, "-надцать" ("-nadtsat").

It's true. 11 and 12 year olds are in the same age group as 13 year olds; young teens (or tweens/preteens).
