It's unfortunate they shot his father to death right in front of him. Yeah, he was a criminal and pointed a gun when they went to kidnap his son. But now his son is going to have to hunt them down and avenge his father when he gets older. This really sucks for that kid.

The kid was waiting in the parking lot for his dad to steal another car after they crashed their first stolen car nearby. It sucks that this kid lost his dad, but he's probably better off not being raised by a piece of shit criminal scumbag.

The hotel called the police first because they saw the father attempting to steal a pickup truck on their security cameras. He failed, and left his kid waiting in the parking lot while he went to steal a different car down the street. Officers arrived and started talking to the kid when dear ole' dad came back with the stolen red car, and the kid just ran from the officers to get in.
