I don't know, a sudden approach like this one could be the push indecisive people need to gain courage and jump, and even if this one was only seeking attention with no real intention of killing himself, he could have resisted only to demonstrate how serious he was about it, without even realizing how dangerous it was in the heat of the situation.

He caused this to himself. How can you freaking deny that? If you don't want people coming from behind you trying to save you... then don't be in that position where you made other people confident you're about to commit suicide. Where you're coming from is "hindsight 20/20" and we don't know the circumstances or the odds he would've jumped or not but we do know the guy trying to save him had good intentions and this person did 100% seem to let go as i explained in my other comment.

If you push a suicidal person to his death you're still responsible, no matter how well intentioned you were and if it was the victim who put himself in a dangerous position in the first place. This is why you don't just try to grab them by surprise and instead try to gently talk to them.

Unless you really know what you're doing, don't try to be a hero.
