For all the kids who think the 1980's aesthetics were all pink and blue, you are VERY wrong. That is a 2000's nostalgic re-imagining of the 80s, just as vaporwave and other "waves" have little to nothing to do with the actual sounds of the 80s. Wonder Woman 1984 was absolutely terrible when it came to its retro nostalgia, though in a few instances they nailed it.

Even many of actual music videos and movies of the 1980s era don't even remotely adequately encapsulate the real vibe and aspirations of the 80s because there is so much noise in the signal (ie. older buildings from previous eras, the reality that not all humans are the idealized form of the era, budgets, technical issues, and other limitations of the productions, etc). Worse, these days we all have the luxury of smart technology and infinite information at our fingertips that changes all contextual understanding of the 80s with a VERY limited Commodore 64.
