There was a recent story revealing how the govt was caught improperly using their warrantless spying powers. People were basically using their security clearance to do a bunch of personal searches which weren't authorized. I wonder if they decided to pull the ripcord on this guy to be like "see we need this power to catch bad guys." They always find a pedo in their back pocket when they need to make an example of someone. Idk the outcome but there was a previous situation where they were trying to take away some 4 th amendment protections so they found some guy who they said had CP on an encrypted hard drive. They ordered him to divulge the password and he refused so they held him in prison on "contempt of court" indefinitely until he agreed to give the password. As far as i knew he never gave the password so he was kept in prison indefinitely.

This creates 2 serious problems. 1 is how many pedos are they aware of but just let them exist until they need a scapegoat or distraction? 2 is this creates a real crisis with the password issue because they provided no evidence that the guy had CP aside from claiming an agent was monitoring him as he downloaded a honeypot then later they found an encrypted hard drive. It feels like they are both under enforcing and over enforcing and creating the CP in the first place.
