Whenever I hear these stories I'm always fucking blown away by the parents' insane decision making processes regarding their children.

Oh, your daughter liked playing with a baseball or something more than wearing pigtails? Wow, that sounds like a totally normal reaction. Maybe she's gonna play softball as an adult. Honestly, the idea that she would ONLY like the stuff you picked out for her seems incredibly unlikely. No big deal. Just let your child be who she wants to be, without encouraging any silly fantasies.

Oh, you're...calling her a boy, sterilizing her and giving her a sex change before she hits puberty. Huh. That's an odd reaction.

My favourite one was an American dad who knew his son was really a girl inside because he loved playing soccer ...

Like how does the most obvious answer not occur to these parents the second the kid says this stuff?

"Oh, you're just saying you're a girl because you're a child, and you have a very basic conception of social dynamics, and to you, a girl does a set of things and a boy does a set of things and you think doing those things defines those categories, so if you do some things from the girl set, you are one."

Then again that's literally what troons think. We're fighting literal baby logic.

It's so weird though. Nearly everyone does things from both. Like I know a lot of men that really enjoy baking. I know a lot of women that enjoy sports and working on cars. To most people it's just hobbies or stuff and has nothing to do with their sex. When places like Tavistock are using "well you like Thomas the tank engine and hate periods" as their reasoning for someone being trans it's just so out there that anyone looking in thinks the people saying that are mental. Most women I know hate periods. A fair few of them enjoyed Thomas as a kid, myself included. It was never anything more than...enjoying Thomas.

It takes a lot to surprise me anymore. I've seen trends of crazy parents making dumb fuck decisions for their children for God knows how long. Now that trans stuff is in the media buzz there will be parents that latch onto that and be like "oh of course my kid is also trans" like what happened with autism or dyslexia or the other trendy things that hit the news.

Usually it's like there's some obscure condition out there most people don't know about, it hits the mainstream consciousness and suddenly all the crazy parents think it applies to them. See it with other things as well like the Halloween candy poisoning or razorblade scare, or with random kidnappings. Story hits the news? Suddenly the parents need to check every single piece of Halloween candy or ban their children from playing outside lest the one in a billion chance of bad thing happening happens.
