The reason “little empirical data” exists on sex differences in athletics between men and women, is because it’s fucking obvious, and only bad faith freaks and depraved clowns claim there’s no difference. Literally all of us know that men are on average stronger and bigger than women. The only people butt hurt over that fact, are either fat gross losers who always got picked last in PE or pathetic men who want to cheat by competing against women. It’s no mystery why trans identified women never clamor to compete in the men’s category, which are technically the open categories. They could play in the men’s leagues if they had the skills. But they don’t. Because they’re women, and women simply aren’t good enough to compete with men in higher end sports leagues. It’s literally only men who are either too inept to actually compete with other men, or who just want to creep on women while stealing their opportunities and trophies.

Fuck the trans activists and their legion of asshole supporters for making this research necessary.
