They're subconsciously treating you as a predator, because they're picking up that something is up with you. We don't know if this person even passes. If they look female and cross dressing, that would explain it. As a 50 your old real man I don't experience this at all.

People don’t seem to perceive me as a predator either. For the record, I’m a 5’11” man in his mid-20s with broad shoulders and a beard. I am conscious of how I carry myself around people because of my poor balance. Sometimes I worry that a person who’s walking near me sees me as a threat, but so far nobody has felt scared around me.

You probably just aren't aware of it. Quite a lot of women walking alone will feel kind of nervous around any young man. Not that there is much you can do about it besides quietly creating space, such as walking faster or slower or whatever if you are going in the same direction
