Some words on the end of TIA

Today, they banned /r/tumblrinaction, one of the last places on Reddit which allowed pushback against what is typically referred to as “woke ideology,” and I am heartbroken. I am straight, white and male, and though this has typically provided me with advantages in life and ostensibly continues to do so, in the real world communities centered around my interests I have found that these immutable characteristics have led me to be considered “one of the good ones” at best and subject to open ridicule, derision and abuse at worst. Is this comparable to, say, police discrimination on a racial basis? Of course not, but as woke ideology continues to inform public opinion and policy making, the thought has definitely crossed my mind that a situation could very soon arise that could be.

Tumblrinaction reaffirmed to me that it was not wrong to be concerned, and that I did in fact have worth and dignity as a human being regardless of my race or sexuality. It was also a place that reaffirmed certain truths beyond that, like the simple fact that human beings cannot change their sex, much less be seen as the opposite sex no matter how strongly they attempt to compel others to do so. This became an important point to me after a sudden wave of people close to me all transitioning around 2015 into 2016. Initially I was very supportive of all of these transitions despite my concerns that something was off about all of this, which I wrote off as some sort of internalized bigotry I needed to deal with. I even briefly considered that I was non-binary myself. For whatever it’s worth, a lot of these people who transitioned were straight white men as upset as I was at first in regards to their treatment in our local arts scene, who then started to identify as non-binary or women, and in the process became the most zealous members of the woke vanguard. It was a harrowing and traumatic experience for me.

Tumblrinaction is attempting to reconstitute itself on SaidIt, a platform which not only lacks the name recognition and clout of Reddit, but is also a hive of COVID misinformation and rife with bizarre, often antisemitic conspiracy theories. There are many saying that the Tumblrinaction ban is some sort of sign that victory is at hand in regards to transgender issues, as it comes in almost no doubt as a sort of retribution for the recent bans on MTF trans people in women’s sports, but I do not believe that is the case. This is a victory for proponents of woke ideology, and the hegemony of that ideology, as another big player in the social media industry has come down strongly and definitively on their side.

I feel ya, although I'd argue it promotes, legitimizes, and normalizes their racism when you are a willing participant.

Their etiquette rules only apply to people they like anyway. No amount of bowing and scraping will help you if they want you gone.

I disagree. Humans are the root cause of all social problems and you should absolutely be ashamed of being a dirty human. That's why you should identify as Godkin instead. Gods are better.

I can see where you’re coming from, but I have very little interest in being some sort of martyr, especially one that can so easily be erased by the powers that be. I want woke ideology ended.

Regarding "hive of COVID misinformation", consider that if a subreddit like r/TiA can be banned for spreading "misinformation", that there might in fact be a semi-organized program to suppress COVID-realted information on Reddit and other social media platforms. I call your attention to this recent preprint: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4125239. This article provides statistical analysis that suggests the vaccines were more harmful than beneficial. While the article is not yet peer-reviewed, many of the authors are all from well-respected institutions and thus the article should at least be taken into consideration rather than dismissed outright. In fact, many of the early COVID skeptics were luminaries in fields such as epidemiology, but they were silenced because their skepticism did not fit a certain narrative.

Reddit is a hive of COVID lies. For example, they push the lie that there are FDA approved COVID mRNA injections available in America. They censor the truth that there are no FDA approved COVID mRNA injections available in America. Reddit lies about this basic fact to cover up the fact that Big Pharma refuses to accept any liability for any injuries or deaths they cause.

FWIW I got suspended from one subreddit and outright kicked out of another for swearing at militant anti vaxxers, so I wouldn’t say Reddit was a perfect champion when it came to covid misinformation either.

TiA was always pretty moderate-right to me. Forcing the former users to engage with the same content on a site favoured by the alt-right seems like a counter-intuitive move, censorship-wise. I'm pretty sure this is how people become radicalized.
