Automatic knives were already banned in Canada. They're also known as Out the Front (OTF) or switchblades.

Spring assisted knives and even "gravity knives" that can be flicked open are also illegal in Canada.

Here in Texas, in theory, I can lawfully walk down the street with any bladed item with the only restrictions being locale dependent (church, 51% businesses, the jail, etc). Sword, spear, switchblade, doesn't matter.

In practice though the cops have sticky fingers and will probably take anything they don't feel you should have. Or they want.
