Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but it seems to me that the fear/shame/guilt categorization lines up very well with Freud

Fear = Id

Shame = Ego

Guilt = Superego

Just as individuals climb from id-driven behavior to ego-driven behavior and then maybe to superego-driven behavior, societal rules mature from being fear-driven to shame-driven and finally some societies manage to reach the guilt-driven stage.

Feels like IQ is de facto log scale. An average IQ of 110 is much different, societally, from an average IQ of 100.
