Yeah, when people say "just be yourself" they lie twice.

Firstly, because if you are yourself, they ignore you or look at you as irrelevant because you don't satisfy them.

Secondly, because they expect you to do stuff to entertain them, meaning you shouldn't be yourself.

They don't lie, they believe that their mask that they put on is them just being themselves. They're skinwalkers without realizing it

Others do not put on this mask. That's the point - they can't entertain you because they have nothing interesting to say, no creativity whatsoever and they cannot do that and expect you, the ugly one to do that for them for possibility of staying with them.

You are supposed to jester, they ARE themselves. That's the entire point.
