Meritocracy fails because with every qualified leftist, the selection criteria becomes more leftist and less meritocratic.

Capitalism isn't about meritocracy, it's about freedom. It allows people to create new organizations whenever they need one. Once an organization becomes corrupted, it can be safely abandoned. And government corruption doesn't matter since the state is prohibited from regulating economy.

    gain the system.

Game the system. The phrase is game the system.

it's people being assholes and undermining what is supposed to be a simple, straight forward tournament to decide who is the best.

Hey, you got the point against meritocracy at the last minute!

By definition a corrupt person is not the best person for the job.

And yet meritocracy selects for them again and again. For the reasons detailed in the article.

communism is bad because Mao, Stalin etc. and proceed to list all bad stuff. Is communism bad because of that?

        Yes.

I think you can select against corrupt people, you should be able to revoke someone's rewoard if they mess with the system.

That doesn't happen in a meritocracy. There are countless examples given in the text.
