"They" aren't united on the question.

Some trans people are like "I was born male but I'm female now," and, well, no. You're wrong.

But some trans people are like "I was born male and I identify as a woman," and, well, okay. I'm not gonna celebrate that, but it's not a logical absurdity.

It is a logical absurdity because there is no difference between "man" gender and "woman" gender.

Semantics is just the question of what words mean.

You can say that "male" and "man" are synonyms, that "female" and "woman" are synonyms, but that's just ignoring how language works.

They're drawing a distinction and the distinction makes perfect sense.

Refusing to communicate is like saying there are no gay people because gay means happy and it doesn't mean anything else.
