Captain Cook was on the Big Island of Hawaii when he angered some of the locals. A skiff from his ship was waiting to pick him up, getting as close to him and the beach as the lava rock would allow. But the captain, like so many seamen back then, couldn't swim so he was captured. That night from the ship, his crew witnessed fires and apparent partying among the locals on shore. The nearby town is now called Captain Cook but some of the citizens have unofficially renamed it Captain Cooked.

But that's a true story; not a joke. It's just twenty minutes south of Kona. They even changed the signs. It's one of those towns where most of the people are baked most of the time anyway.
