There have been only about 1000 cases in the whole country and NONE of them has died. The risk from injecting yourself with a smallpox vaccine (historically the most dangerous vaccination ever) containing live cowpox does not seem justified even for these folks

Yes I know that monkeypox isn't strictly speaking an STD, but it's not a coincidence that the major outbreaks have occurred at gay pride events. Turns out that exchanging body fluids with random strangers is a really good way to spread a disease even if it isn't strictly speaking an STD.
