The USSR was about as communist as the NAZIS were socialist. It was just a name to dupe a few intellectuals for a while. We "kind of did" Democracy -- but we never really distributed the power. It was "representational Democracy" which means; we don't trust the public. AND, our institutions and education systems seem geared towards making that a pragmatic decision.

The free market cannot work without scarcity so that means some kind of socialism is inevitable. Or, you can live a fictional capitalism where work gives you purpose and fill out forms for pointless things -- sounds like Hell.
