Please start linking reddit posts with old.reddit, it's what the saidit design went after anyway and has better readability. I think archive.org also has a easier time with it.

The ability to hide posts. Admins are saying it was deactivated by accident, and it appears to still be working on the "Old" Reddit.

I'm honestly not sure, in the conspiratorial sense, what purpose it would serve. You can only hide individual posts, so you'd still see anything they wanted you to see just as often in order to click the "Hide" button on it. The only way to avoid seeing it full stop in any sense would be the block the user, and that's still available.

I'd be loath to say it would be testing the waters for the removal of the block feature or report feature, as those are the cornerstone of silencing dissent.

I'd put stupidity before malice: Keyboard monkey falls asleep and hits backspace, Hide doesn't work for a while.

It's not to hide unwanted opinions. Literally everyone on reddit shares the same opinion. It really was monkey brain developer.

One comment reads "They took away hiding posts like they took away the block function." I don't have a working reddit account atm so can't check to see if block is still working.

I do have a Reddit account, but for some reason I can't log into it. It always says the password is wrong, even when I change it.
Last I recall you could block people, because I had "Reddit" blocked so I didn't have to see their annoying messages.

I don't really know what I'd be banned over, none of them ever answered any messages I sent the help forum about it and the account page itself is still there. I feel like they should be required to send you some kind of notice that you're banned. I guess a privately run business with a forum can remove anyone they like for any reason, but when its seemingly just random it makes it hard to imagine people wanting to go there.

yeah i mean you can hide one ad at a time but it doesn't mean hide all ads forever with the push of one button
