    Open source means nothing to the average end user. It is this sort of thinking that never let linux be anything more than a developers platform.

    Microsoft does force adds on people.

      Yes, you are right in what you are saying, but it still means nothing to the average end user. The average person, wanting to do average things on their operating system. Open source is meaningless. If there something they do not like about a program, they are not going to do a thing about it. They either use the product, or they don't. Not every one has the technical ability to build their own linux or modify and compile source code. Even people who can do these things, like myself, wont, because it takes too long and I have better things to do.

        Ah, that explains it. Ubuntu is windows 10 for linux tards. Even its default interface is ugly and unfriendly. I tried to put cinnamon on it, but it was hardly worth the effort and lacked a lot of customisation that native cinnamon distros had. On the last linux PC I put together I had to use the ubuntu kernel though because the graphics drivers on the computer only worked with ubuntu. There's that pesky windows 10 mentality again.
