You'll need at least one core with a base clock speed of at least 500 Mhz.

I don't understand. Are you asking for a computer, advice, or...?

I will also be starting my own server this year, ideally this winter/spring, depending.

IMO, we should start a /s/NoviceServerHosts sub for those of us hosting our own stuff, especially for decentralized solutions.

If the load is light an atom will be enough. I run a file server/gateway/torrent client on an ARM SBC and it runs well.

The Denverton C3000 looks pretty good, actually. Still kinda expensive, I hope it's quiet. I'm looking at small form factor chassis from supermicro.

I keep thinking that the X7SPA-HF-D525 motherboard is a decent choice, provided that it doesn't die in a year.

Edit: Forgot to mention, recent reviews on it are sparse.
