Regarding the Aug. 18 letter indicating that the Perry nuclear power plant could be replaced by wind turbines (”Forget nuclear bailouts; create wind energy jobs”): Perry’s rated power output is 1,256 megawatts. The high-end wind turbine output generation on a perfect day is 3 MW. That would require 418 wind turbines to replace Perry. Perry has zero greenhouse-gas emissions and provides a constant 1,256 MW of power generation around the clock, wind or no wind.
Tom Carlson,
Perry
