Won't Someone Think of the Poor Golfers?

The moratorium on Illinois golf has weighed heavy on many of us. We have come up with statistics, observations, comparisons, plans and rules to provide a safe way to enjoy a game that is truly a lifestyle for some and entertainment for all. Seventy-five percent of all golf courses in the United States are currently open for play and yet we are among those who are left behind.

Why is Illinois one of the only states not trusting constituents to play nice and safe?

As a parent of a 4-year-old, I can honestly say we are being treated like 4-year-olds by state leaders. No matter what we provide as information proclaiming golf to be safe, we are either given the political cold shoulder, no response, or a threatening response akin to fines or banishment, because its “for our own good.” Thanks to our government’s own doing, we have been deemed by other states as “not welcome” or “unclean” when it comes to finding a legal place to play. We are not welcome.

We realize there are bigger and more important issues to address when it comes to coronavirus, but in an industry that generates over $2 billion in revenue for Illinois is it really that insignificant?
