Mary Oliver. She died and all, and was not “new” or anything but she’s wonderful

Yes! I love her work. I copied 'Wild geese' into my journal, so good.

No way, that's my favorite of hers so far too!

Indeed so rewarding and humbling: really makes you appreciate how hard it is to put out sth beautiful into the world.

Love her. I've had so much joy translating her work in my native language. I can't believe it hasn't been done until now.

Oh wait, she was a lesbian - so yeah I can believe it :)

Kate Tempest was pretty good. But she's non-binary Kay Tempest now, so idk maybe just check out her older stuff.

Andrea Gibson. I think she identifies as NB now but has some good poetry.

Carol Ann Duffy has some interesting poetry on female figures in history, love affairs, exes etc.

And I wonder how could I forget Elizabeth Bishop - perhaps because she is also not contemporary.

But she writes from a such an interesting space: at once deeply closeted and fully free. It's like she went so deep into the Narnian closet that she became a queen there :)

Perfect description of her style from another great contemporary poet - Ernest Hilbert: "her poems are balanced like Alexander Calder mobiles, turning so subtly as to seem almost still at first, every element, every weight of meaning and song, poised flawlessly against the next. "
