I've been "stuck" in shit jobs a few times, and each time managed to wriggle my way out of that situation. More recently (15 yrs ago) I moved to a country where I don't speak the language and don't have a work permit, in a place famous for taking a decade or more to grant residence. Today I'm semi-retired, working part-time for more than most middle-class peeps earn working full-time (by local standards).

Woot :)

You know what pisses me off? When whiny types like you tell me I'm "lucky" to have a beautiful wife and daughter, nice house, a nice yacht, a nice truck, in a nice neighborhood, and only working when I feel like it.

Even a shit job pays enough to buy a book. You can learn stuff with books. When you learn how to help other people get what they want, they'll help you get what you want. Eventually, after a few fuck-ups and embarrassments, you'll figure out how to make enough to buy all of the good books, to take some courses, to learn some useful skills, and you can build on your experience.

Apart from being called "lucky" for working hard to improve yourself and thus your life, the annoying bit is once you've really got everything, the lifestyle, the toys, the money and the time...? Some shit like "covid 19" comes along, or at least the over-reaction to it, and then you really are stuck... And by my age you appreciate time, freedom and your health.

I'm not scared of covid, I'm scared I'll grow even more fucking old before these cunts stop whining about the flu ffs.

*grumpy face

So you got lucky, or you are full of shit.

See, that's the brain-dead response that revolts me.

I made my own luck, by learning new things, taking risks, putting myself out there in positions where I could fail badly, or succeed like a pirate.

Every now and then I take a youngster under my wing and explain how I did it. Did that for my niece, and she's now an area manager, doing well with most of her mortage paid off, and she's barely 30. Same girl who told me life sucks and she had no future.

Problem is as people grow older they have less time, and less ability to listen. Nobody is as deaf and blind and the man who doesn't want to hear or see, huh?

What kind of work do you do and how did you get into it?

I make it rain.

I'm the rainmaker.
