I honestly don't understand the economics of Breadtubers like Contrapoints. He must spend an incredible amount of money on all the sets, costuming, videography etc. Are these videos that monetizable?

Lots of Breadtubers and other Youtubers are funded by fans through Patreon. You can see on Contrapoints's Pateron that he rakes in at least £28,000 per month (based on all 14,101 subscribers paying the lowest subscription tier of £2 per month). Looking at some other Breadtubers I can think of, Hbomberguy gets minimum £21,000 (10,488 patrons at £2/month), Philosophy Tube gets £14,600 (7302 patrons at £2/month), Jim Sterling gets £6,000 (6060 subscribers at £1/month, that's his only tier though).
