    I get it, though... I don't have any gay male friends (unless you count my husband, which, of course he's my friend, but that's different), and there's a big part of me that thinks, 'I really would like to be friends with some other LGB people,' but I sort of get the feeling that most of the not-crazy LGB people are just quietly living their lives and aren't really likely to crowd up in LGB spaces, which seem almost overwhelmingly for "activists" nowadays rather than just "socializing."

    At least you don't have to worry if a guy is actually gay when he says he is (unless he's bisexual which is a whole other situation). As a lesbian, it's hard to trust women who say they're lesbians because it could be bicurious women who want to experiment or straight women calling themselves "political lesbians".
