Like me, you were involved in gay rights as a volunteer. These organizations are run by people with careers in it, and, as a result, they literally can't afford to declare victory. They have to find an edge to push, and, at this point, it's gender ideology.

When I was in college, my university had ZERO resources for LGB people. Nothing. Now, they have a huge Gender and Sexual Diversity Center with a full time staff. Their education initiatives include "Trans 101" and "Pronouns." They behave as though they're still fighting some huge battle -- at a school that constantly falls all over itself to try to prove how ultra-liberal they are.

It's fucking absurd. It's like the more progress we make, the worse they claim the problem is with all these bizarre statements about how "there is still much work to do to address deep-seated homophobia on campus." That was true in 1987. It's not true now. They're just grifters at this point, riding that gravy train.

This is fascinating. The thing is, it has to stop somewhere and when the general public finally has enough, they'll begin questioning where else they were wrong since they were wrong about transness. I have a feeling it'll all swing far to the other side, the pendelum has gone too far left. I hate to think of the far reaching consequences

That's the problem. The pendulum will swing back, it always does, the only questions are: how far and who will it knock over when it does? Just the crazy TRA-fringe? Run-of-the-mill trans persons minding their own business? LGBT+-organizations? LGB-organizations? Gay men? Lesbians?

Keep in mind, to the general public with its varying levels of ignorance or disinterest in the nitty gritty of gay life, we are collectively just 'the alphabet people'. If somehow the majority gets it into their heads that 'the alphabet people' have gone too far, or worse, perceive us collectively as dangerous, they won't bother to distinguish between the LGB and the TQ+. They'll elect some fanatic who'll promise to 'put a stop to this' and that fanatic will hate LGB as much, if not more than the TQ+.

I sincerely hope that I am too pessimistic, but these attempts at policing people's dating life and redefining sexualities are to me akin to someone poking the dragon. And it's not certain that next time that dragon wakes in earnest we get 'super gay' alongside 'super straight'.
