I want to start creating more and build off the Blockchain
Correct, I mostly lurk for 99% of the time. I only post when I feel I need to give feedback. :)
80% of your sales come from 20% of your customers.
Pareto Principle? True
that's why i drop blackpills and painful conspiracy facts, despite paid shills insulting, it is for the lurkers
Yup. I’ve been in plenty of internet discussions over the years were outwardly maybe it could have looked like maybe I “lost” but it came up later or something like that where someone I didn’t really know or knew tangentially who wasn’t involved in the discussion mentioned they were glad I said what I said.
The shills always have and always will outnumber the reasonable people but they aren’t swaying nearly the people they think they are, certainly not in the direction they want.
Well, its because the content has gotten so standardized and polarized.
Social media has been gamed to cater to segments of the market/audiences with select buzzwords pertaining to topics/titles. If it was actually organic and virtual participation was without consequences or pernicious deception, then of course; we'd shoot the shit and enjoy saying dumb stuff.
For my post, I have no regrets ;(
It’s the same ratio as it’s ever been. We were dealing with the same facts in 2006. I don’t really see it as a “problem” — just something to be aware of.
But the same happens on communities like StackOverflow, where it's not about politics.
Have no idea what you are talking about...
Read it again, but slower.
I did. I still have no idea...
Care to elaborate? Never heard of stackoverflow.
The user is referring to the name of an Internet forum for coders.
Ohhh!
Variants include the 1–9–90 rule (sometimes 90–9–1 principle or the 89:10:1 ratio),[1] which states that in a collaborative website such as a wiki, 90% of the participants of a community only view content, 9% of the participants edit content, and 1% of the participants actively create new content.
I find this here on saidit too. 90% only lurk without logging in, maybe 10% login in with their usernames, and maybe 1% actually vote or comment or post. We get 20k unique visitors on an average day, and about 4000 comments per day, and 500 posts per day (made by about 200 users). So that's 1%, the rule holds!
Those are some interesting statistics! They're also roughly equivalent to YouTube's statistics too. Most YouTube watch time referral activity is generated from outside of YouTube. I'd be curious to know what Reddit's viewer to lurker ratio would be.
Then again, only around 1% of YouTubers (not including TV and music of course) generate most of the legitimate traffic there.
These numbers have been roughly these numbers probably throughout the history of civilization, and certainly throughout the history of the internet, as long as I’ve been online.
a lot of time i use youtube but don't log in, because something about their broken app makes me need to log in and go to a website and acttivate way too much, I wonder if certain sites are broken like this and people would log if they didn't make it a hassle. this leads to me not making any comments or liking or subscribing on YT which it seems like all the content creators want so it hurts them.
Yup.

Reminds me of the various forums with their mods and admin constantly bitching about lurkers, then when someone new joins, they turn into rabid control freaks that hound, nitpick, censor, and finally banhammer him....or have retarded rules that one must have x number of hero cookies to post, or to even include links when answering other posts.
