I was watching a Twitch streamer last week. Someone in chat asked if he can grow a beard. He said he could but it takes him almost a year to grow one completely out. His girlfriend walks by and goes "that's not a real beard. If you don't have 5 o'clock shadow by night time, you're not growing a real beard."
That was absolutely insane to me. Completely irrelevant to the conversation. She just comes in and blasts dude for not being able to insta-grow a beard in two weeks. But, I've heard this my entire life. In high school, a ton of kids had full-beards. They weren't fast growers though. It took them almost 4 or 5 months to get their full beard back after shaving. The girls in school constantly made fun of them. Guys with full beards getting made fun of while men who were constantly shaving but had 5 o'clock shadow by school the next day were told they look amazing.
It's really patronizing. Especially coming from people that can't grow beards. I started using minoxidil on my face. I get 5 o'clock shadow the night of shaving. But, it still takes me 3 weeks to get to the point where I can actually brush my beard and use beard oil. My mustache takes 2 months to fully grow in.
It's insane what women decide to berate men on. Now that I have a beard, I try to make sure I have at least low stubble 24/7. You can literally be a millionaire twitch streamer and have your girlfriend troll you for BEING ABLE TO GROW A BEARD, BUT NOT AT THE SAME RATE AS OTHER MEN.
